Here is an annual festival celebrated by the chinese in Kuching. Some taoist / chinese temple in Kuching will setup a stage and put up a play for the souls which is believed to be around during the Hungry Ghost Festival. It falls on the 7th Lunar Month. Photos below are taken at the temple near to the Great White Cat Statue at Padungan. Locally known as “Ah Ma Hu temple”.

During this time of the month, you may find people doing some burnings and place offerings (foods, fruits..)  infront of their houses, by the road sides or at corner of the shops houses. If you do see it, just ignore it and do not disturb what is being placed there. Those are not for you.
