Ah Liong Cafe which is located at BDC is my usual stopover place before heading or returning from the Kuching International Airport. Its just about 5 mins away from the airport. Went there today and had some light snack. I ordered the Cuttlefish with KangKong vegetable. Cuttlefish is known as “sotong” locally. The portion is up to you, either order the RM3, RM4 or the RM5 for larger portion. I had the RM4.00 which is enough for two person. Its rather hard to find a well prepared one in Kuching recently. Maybe the good old recipe is dying out.
I find this one from this particular stall taste good and still maintain the quality. Some other stalls, you may find the sauce abit bitter due to the mixture of the KangKong vege or some sauce are too watery.

What makes this laksa unique? The usual laksa you find elsewhere is cooked with santan (coconut milk) , whereas this one is cooked with condensed milk. Coconut milk is very high in fat and cholestrol when boiled for long duration. It will not be good for diabetics as its too high in cholesterol. So if you ever craved for a healthier version of laksa, you can always try this one. Regular laksa - RM3.50 with prawns!
Another one which I always ordered, the Kay See Mee / KC Mee. No its not a person’s name. It basically means chicken meat noodle. Noodle portion is generous. Can’t recall the price for this, I think its about rm3.00

This is the Nasi Ayam Penyet or Ayam Penyek. Had this sometime ago and just wanted to share it. Its an Indonesian dish but its quite commonly found in Kuching as well since we’re just across the border of Kalimantan, Indonesia. Basically, its white rice with chicken.
I had this dish at petra jaya area, Kuching, somewhere near to the Dewan Bandar Kuching Utara (North City Council) headquater. Its a stall by the malay kampung. A small hut I would say and its painted green as I recalled. The name of hut is R&R if not mistaken.
The chicken is rather “hard” and “chewy” for me to eat. Didn’t quite like it. But the red sauce was volcanic. I was perspiring when I was eating it. Tears, watery nose and sweat came in stimultaneously. It was around RM5.00 if I am not mistaken.

I do not have the location map for this one.
