Claypot rice at Lee’s Coffee Shop

Posted on 01 June 2009 by Stewie

Lee’s coffee shop is one of the newest and popular eating outlet in town. Its another open air style kopitiam or “foodcourt” with individual running stalls. Its located at Stutong or Tabuan laru area. (refer to the map below for directions).

Anyway, I tried out one of the stall’s claypot rice. I say its the best in town so far after the downfall of the former best claypot near to Nanas road. As I was told, the best method to achieve a good delicious claypot rice is to cook it directly from the claypot itself over burning charcoal. Then add the rest of the ingredient along the way.  It could take a while for the rice to get cook. Thats the traditional method of cooking claypot.

What most people does nowadays, they speed up the process by pre-cook the rice in rice cooker partially then port it over to the claypot to finish the job. And some doesn’t cook it over burning charcoal, they use common gas stove instead. So it doesn’t taste as nice as the traditional one.

I think it cost me RM5.00 for this. Can’t really recall.

Sorry, photos taken with my Nokia N79 only. Will make an effort to take with my digicam next time.

If you can’t find, just look for the Stutong Market and look onthe side of the. Lee’s Coffee Shop is just next to C121 which is another better looking kopitiam.
